I used to get offended about this stuff, but then I remembered that this was comedy, and that Mel Brooks didn't make the tropes he just mocks them.
All the trolls need to shut the hell up. The OP should be able to discuss racism without reading a bunch of nonsense from basement-dwellers who have decided that since they don't mind, everyone else should have to feel the same way. -

Agree, but that can equally be turned around. Just because the OP gets upset about something, doesn't mean everyone else should feel the same way. And because they don't, and aren't wringing their hands, it doesn't mean that they must be 'basement-dwellers'.
The self-righteous can get quite cross and nasty if you tread on their toes. -

the combing the desert thing was not meant as a racism joke. the comb was meant to make them look like idiots because the president told them to comb the Desert as in look for them but they took it literally and used giant combs

I'm not sure if anyone pointed this out yet, but why does that particular line bother you so much but the jewish jokes don't? You speak of racism, then only pick out one thing that can be construed as such. It's a comedy, it's hilarious. If you didn't find much of the movie funny at all, then leave it to the rest of us who thoroughly enjoy it. It didn't become a cult classic for nothing.

So there was never a black man that talked like that throughout history? Who made the proclamation that all black men talk like this? That's on the OP for believing that this one character was a representation of all blacks. Also, if you think about it, they actually portray the black guy as smarter than the "whites in charge." He's basically saying, "We ain't found beep Because you crackers are being too beep literal!" He's the only competent Spaceball and realizes that these idiots are making him perform needless tasks. The other Spaceballs are sheep who don't question authority.

I think it's racist that in almost every space movie whether it's Star Wars or Star Trek, almost every black person that is shown is so well spoken, which does not reflect on a large amount of the modern day black man. It was nice to see some realism, even-tough it was in a comedy movie.
