Well, I guess since they both live in the same area. But you're right, they grew up in different places and had different upbringings. It would make sense that a man meets a woman and she speaks with a regional accent.

You're responding to ppl from the old IMDb boards. They won't see it. This movie was on TCM a couple nights ago. It stunk up to high hell, Mad Donna can't act and I turned it off before 12 mins had passed.

Yep, cartoon intro was amazing! She ought to have her cartoon series in 80s, it was popular back then to have cartoon to something.
As I remember one of her video is in cartoon - Cherish I think?

I don't recall a cartoon music vid, all I know is Cherish (the Day) was a Sade song.

I LOVED Wendy's accent in this movie. And I HATED Madonna's accent. I don't even know where Madonna came up with it. It WAS HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE!

Yet, she also sprinkled the accent with her special movement - walking like a puppet on a string.
She probably hated any constructive criticism by director about her acting and decided to go along with what seemed ok in her own head?

I watched Dick Tracy last night. The last time I saw it was in 1990 and then I did not analyze her acting. She really made progress in Dick Tracy. The movie sucks, but her acting is quite more…better.
Interesting enough she also throws voice change in that movie, too.

Oh yeah Madonna was pretty good in Dick Tracy. Usually she plays around while in character but in this movie she takes it seriously. But maybe she was able to pull it off due to her off screen romance with Warren Beatty.
I liked the movie even though nobody else did.
