My guess would be that Warner Bros has cancelled release of the DVD because Madonna wants to forget the title Who's That Girl due to poor box office sales and lack of critical acclaim.
More likely than anything, "Warner Bros." hasn't released it on DVD because the costs of production, manufacturing and distribution (including capture and transcode of the interpositive reel to MPEG-2 for a DVD master) would far exceed the revenues generated by a film like thiswhich was both a critical and financial failure.
Warner Bros. Home Video is not beholden to Madonna as her contract with Sire Records expired in 1992 (then a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warner Music Group). Since then Maverick Records, an independent label, has been distributed by Warner Bros./WEA Distribution, but that's the only connection she has. As far as Warners is concerned, the film is their intellectual property and they are free to do with it as they please Madonna and/or Maverick Entertainment owns neither the rights to the movie, the video, or the soundtrack.
The only area in which there might be an issue would be royalty disputes over the soundtrack use in the home video but since a) it's already been released on home video and b) Warner Bros. Records owns all the rights to the songs in the soundtrack, those issues are entirely moot as well.
The only circumstance that might change this is if a particular event surrounding Madonna resulted in generating extra publicity for this film, or the extremely unlikely event of a theatrical re-release. With sagging sales of her last studio album, that's also a minus for any kind of promotional tie-in.
As much as I like Madonna and as much as I consider this her best, and most underrated, performance onscreen the reality is that Warners has no reason to release it on DVD anywhere in the near future.
Her WTG tour in Italy DVD is called Ciao Italia, her WTG soundtrack is very hard to find in record stores nowadays and therefore releasing the DVD would bring to light something that was meant to be forgotten.
That's incorrect. All the PR/promotions material for the Who's That Girl World Tour '87 did not change for the one show in Torino (Turin) "Ciao Italia" is part of the title for the video that was produced by IDTV and Warner Bros. from the Torino show.

i've been waiting for this DVD for years! This is definately Madonna's best film.Desperately seeking Susan was good, but Madonna really shines in this.Plus the soundtrack was excellent.
come on Warner's! There's a big market for this!

They've GOT to make this DVD available. A professor I had was in this movie as the Traffic cop, I remember him. He's the one that pulled Madonna over when she first drives the car. Funny stuff. Hammy acting, but yeah, look at what the movie was anyhow. I liked it.

The movie is getting a barebones DVD release in the USA sometime in late February.

I am 12 and I love Madonna and I saw Who's That Girl on video and I bought it at JB. Anyone who loves this movie and lives in Melbourne, Australia can buy it at JB HiFi. I think all of them have it in stock. I bought mine at Chadstone and my dad saw it in the city. Unfortunately the only special feature is the trailer but I stil am very excited that I have it. I was obsessed with this film and all Madonna films for about 3 years and when I found this at a video store after a year long search I nearly fainted! So far I have seen the following films featuring Madonna: Dick Tracy, Desperately Seeking Susan, Swept Away and of course the fabulous Who's That Girl!!!!!!
