I saw an episode of this, (at least I think it was unsolved mysteries) probably 20+ years ago where a young man was looking for, or wondering what happened to his friend. I remember his friend had most likely gotten into drugs and eventually drove off a cliff or something to that extent. I remember in the reenactment the driver was driving a yellow 1970s VW Thing. I wish I remembered more. If anyone has a clue what I'm remembering any help is greatly appreciated.

It doesn't sound familiar, or at least some of the details don't, such as driving off a cliff.

I remember it being a cliff but that could be inaccurate. I know the vehicle drove off the road and there weren't tire marks indicating the driver had tried to stop the vehicle. I'll try to remember more details.
