For some reason I was thinking about this incident this morning when I was watching 'Unsolved Mysteries.' I started to search for it thinking it would have been solved by now, but it hasn't. Many people believe it was a hoax and that is why it was never solved.

Umm Hoax or NOT If our world governments won't admit there are "UFOs" visiting our planet Then any "Genuine" reports, including Any or All those on "Unsolved Mysteries", will NEVER be "solved"
As far as I know, our world governments have not admitted to building a craft like that either
This story is called "Texas Ufo" on the DVD Set released several years ago.
According to the episode description on the DVD case, One of them did die from cancer.

I just pulled out my DVD to watch this episode, as this thread got me interested in seeing it again
According to the reenactment, after the incident, there was a burned patch on the highway there So they were at that spot for some time
Why was there an alien ship hovering over a rural highway in the middle of nowhere?
What it just there checking out why a car was driving on the road, or was it because they wanted to burn a patch of asphalt?
That whole aspect of the story seemed pointless either way.
It makes it seem like the Aliens were stupid, or had nothing better to do

So much of this incident I had forgotten about or simply didn't know. I wasn't aware they tried to sue the military for $20 million.
I remember Vickie saying the car was so hot, due to the flames, that her fingerprints became embedded into the dashboard, even though there was no photos of this to prove it.
There were also no photos of the section of the highway that allegedly was replaced. Someone on a blog said the only photos they had of this was a re-enactment they did for a t.v. show that people were attempting to pass off as the real site.
It is believed Betty and Vickie actually burned themselves with a sunlamp, drank cleaning products and pulled out their own hair, to make it seem like they were exposed to radiation. This is quite possible because I had assumed they probably died within five years of this happening because of the radiation. I was not aware one of them lived to be 84 and the other 72, and Colby is still alive. -

I've always remembered this episode since it this family seemed to suffer so much afterwards. I too have read up on it and know many feel it's a hoax.
I'll say first I've always seen spirits or what people call ghosts. I don't often tell this because people won't believe me or think I'm crazy. There is nothing worse than being called a liar or crazy. Especially as a kid. I know what I see and I wouldn't lie about this because so many wouldn't believe me or understand.
So why would these women make this up? Why tell something so unbelievable? Why risk being put on national tv and judged by the world? Who would want to do that? I sure wouldn't.
So I like to give people like the benefit of the doubt. No matter what. Many people often feel it's easier to call someone crazy than to take a moment and listen to their story of ghosts, UFOs or even a mythical monster like Big Foot.
I've just felt bad for these women. If it wasn't a UFO who caused their physical suffering and I think one woman died already then what was it that caused their suffering? -

I read more of the thread about the belief of them doing this to themselves. It is hard to believe someone would purposely drink poison. Your body would naturally fight against that same with hurting yourself. I guess we will never know.

Many people are taught to believe these things don't exist, and many of those people go their whole lives without seeing or experiencing anything So when someone says "I saw something", the people unfortunately do believe that when these individuals tell them these claims, they are in fact crazy or liars Even when they pass lie detectors! What is really bad is when a group of law enforcement officers or a whole "town" sees something, and people still don't believe.
And what about technologies, like radar, cameras, and so forth Hard evidence! Even when you try to disprove something, like in Ghost photography, by eliminating photos that could be Dust, Cigarette Smoke, Camera straps, ETC. People still won't believe in what remains either
It seems that nothing will convince them That is until a UFO piloted by Bigfeet, lands in their backyard, and send alien ghost foot soldiers into their homes to throw them off their balconies and even so, they still won't admit it, because of their egos
But what a lot of people don't understand is the people are wired differently. Some individuals have premonitions, some people have ESP, some people are more susceptible to electromagnetic fields Some people are even color blind (LOL!) and so on. They just don't understand, and can't accept that for some reason.
People have been seeing and experiencing strange things for centuries. In many cases, they are completely terrified by the experience. Why would someone lie about something they truly wish to forget?
How could people see flying machines, before the Wright Brothers flew in 1903?
Some well known "modern" creatures were not even discovered until about a 100 years ago, and scientists are now finding creatures that were long thought extinct So why can't there be a Bigfoot? Some claim, they live underground
I never have understood why people believe in the Afterlife like Heaven, and Angels but then can't believe a spirit can remain Earth Bound.
It is shame that people can't accept that strange things happen to good people, and can't show some compassion.

I honestly feel "sorry" (For a lack of a better word) for you. They say there is nothing worse than being in your home, thinking you are alone, turning a corner, and seeing someone strange standing there. Even if they are not being threatening toward you, you still get the feeling of "Is that a burglar in my house, and are they going to hurt me?" Even with the residual haunting type situations, that is still scary.
And, I really hope they don't try to hurt you for whatever their reason is for doing that being pushed, grabbed, slapped, thrown, or scratched by an invisible force. That is something I wouldn't wish even on my worse enemy, and yet, for centuries, many people have claimed that has happened to them
Now, I personally, am not saying "Aliens" on Earth, "Bigfeet", and "Ghosts" exist And scientists have not yet been able to prove them either but strange and mysterious things, that have yet to be explained, ARE happening Even if skeptics still refuse to believe that. It may take a long time, but someday, we'll unravel these mysteries.
One more comment about this Unsolved Mysteries story
This family, didn't just drive their car into a microwave converted gas station maintenance garage at night And the moon is not radioactive
So something definitely unexplained happened to them on that highway!

There's been a thread about this case before. The consensus was that it was most likely an experimental aircraft being used by the military. The fact that it was slow-moving and emitting flames beneath it suggest it wasnt very advanced technology.

Thank you for your kind words. No spirits do not hurt people. They are just basically visitors passing by. It's demons that hurt people. I've seen a few of those too and it's very frightening and troubling. But it's been many years thankfully. I'm not alone since my oldest sees them too at times. My other two have too but it's frightens them so they rarely see anything anymore. I guess it's something you can turn off it needed. This has always made life interesting.
