Spoilers: I just watched this movie for the first time today and loved it. I missed the begining of the movie and started watching it when Keaton threatens to leave rehab. So I'm not sure if Im missing something butwas he cleared of the death of the girl who o.d.'d in his bed ? I realise it wasnt a case of murder bt it was aluded to that he went into rehab to evade the police.
The fact that I am saying it, quite obviously, makes it my opinion.

It didn't seem so(from what I remember the film didn't fully flesh out what happened with that, expect that the girls father went around saying that Daryl killed her). He was obviously in trouble just by being the one who was using with her, and it was in his house.
However, she still willingly used the cocaine and she could have had a past drug using/dealing record(Daryl confirms to his sponsor that she possessed the drugs that night, not him) that made the cops realize that it wasn't entirely Daryl's fault.

Well, I think the cops are still pursuing the matter and they tell Keaton not to leave town until further notice. This is when the girl's father puts the posters up calling him a murderer and he decides to hide out for awhile in the rehab program, thinking it'll be easy. I guess eventually he was cleared of any wrongdoing and it was proved that he didn't cause the girl's death.

          I wondered about this, too.
Even in rehab, the cops would've found him and would've been questioning him.
As the movie went on, it's as if the situation with the girl, her father and the police never even happened and I wondered why they even bothered to include it.
It would've made more sense if it was a "close call" that rattled him enough to go into rehab and she ended up living.
