I'm a woman and I've always thought she was very pretty. Maybe they feel that way because she's not over the top, wears tons of makeup, and walks around looking like a tramp. I like her because she looks pretty without trying too hard.
What a waste. Oh, the humanity!

I think I saw her on two different occasions in the public (once in a Internet Cafe and one time while walking down the street). She appeared very plain and nobody seemed to recognise her at all. Both times she had absolutely no makeup on. It's surprising what a little make up and good lighting will do to transform a person on celluloid. I don't mean it in an insulting way, she just comes across as kind of "average" in person. But "average" in a good way.

You are so right! Today is both the ravishing Uma's birthday (Cecile de Volanges) and Madame de Volanges (Michelle Pfeiffer's) birthday.
When you look at the casting of this 1988 movie, you just have to marvel at the sublime, perfect casting. Magnificent

I thought she was very good in Dangerous Liaisons. Mind you, I know her character was supposed to be dim-witted but I always couldn't wait to see her again during that movie. She had a certain charm, I liked it. She could have been in Michelle's role if she were a little older when this movie was made.
Uma is one of my favorite actresses, and I'l agree that some of her movies don't give her the opportunity to show off her skills, but none the less she is a very beautiful and very talented person.

She was only 17 when she worked in Dangerous Liaisons. Never so beautiful and already a good actress.
