Expanding on the idea of a younger version of Callahan.
A Scorpio Killer copycat is on the loose. A cop, much like Harry, is on the case. He seeks the retired Harry Callahan's help in capturing the killer, only Harry gets more involved than he is supposed to, also becoming like a fatherly figure to the young man.

"Gran Torino" would have been the perfect goodbye I think.
They just had to change a few things around. Harry is a retired cop livin' in a beep neighborhoodafter beating up some trouble making punks he becomes a reluctant hero to the community.
Agreed.

Yes, it would be good to see another Dirty Harry but Clint Eastwood appears to have entered a well earned retirement from acting. However, with the right actor to play the part, he could convincingly direct it. Bruce Willis comes to mind but I think it would have to be someone younger, sorry Mr. Willis, and to whom Clint Eastwood, in a couple of appearances, could "pass the torch" and do some mentoring. Clint Eastwood said once that he felt he was done with Harry as far as acting is concerned.

I don't know if they would be able to pull it off, but a Dirty Harry movie about Harry's younger days, directed by Clint Eastwood.
A movie showing why Harry became such a tough cop, perhaps a cold blooded murder of his first partner. -

That might be the way to kick it off since being Harry's partner was dangerous in itself. Maybe he got a lot of exposure to corruption in the city government and police department that that made him what he became. Another angle seen on Law and Order a lot is when they cops get someone dead to rights and have them all tied up with a ribbon and the Feds step in and pull rank and maybe the perp walks due to a deal that he/she made with the Feds. That could make any honest cop bitter.
