Please remember the scene when Callahan and his Asian partner do some jogging at Pier 3. The direction is from Bay Bridge toward the Embarcadero old building.
To my great surprise, I noticed a huge elevated highway on the left side. I have never been in SF, but I've "walked" enough around that area in Google Streetview and there's no highway here. Of course, since 1988 it could be demolished. Looking at that area today I can't understand what's the matter with the highway, where it started, where it ended,
Maybe some SF residents can bring some light here, because I'm very confused. I checked twice the scene on DVD to be sure about the location. -

The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake damaged this elevated highway. It was subsequently demolished.

This removal opened up San Francisco's Embarcadero area to new development. The elevated structure, which ran along San Francisco's waterfront, was replaced with a ground-level boulevard. -

Just another little interesting tidbit.
In the beginning of the movie when Harry is crossing the Bay Bridge, he takes the first exit which is the 480. Then the highway splits, and he takes the left heading onto Fremont Street where he is ambushed by the cars following him. Had he turned right he would have gone to Main St./Broadway.
