People only get mad at others about their grammar is because that is where they can feel superior over you.I dont worry about my grammar, dont worry about your grammar, it takes most people on the internet to type three sentences in a meticulous fashion maybe a hour and a half while others like yourself whip it up in only thirty seconds probably, I could watch all of The Pink Panther in the length of time it takes someone to type a message on this board on IMDb..I guess in all it is something to think about!

I am sorry but EVERYONE should worry about correct spelling and grammar, because if we don't language and communication will simply descend into moronic gibberish.

I actually have a bit of a stutter myself and I wasn't offended at all by the movie. But I can see where you're coming from, q-taran, and I also agree with your comment about how a weakness like that can make them one of the best characters. Ken also overcomes his stutter in the end, so that makes it much more enjoyable (for me, anyway).

Actually, Ira Zimmerman, president of the National Stuttering Project, sent a letter of commendation to Michal Palin after this movie was released for raising awareness of the plight of those who stutter worldwide. This prompted Palin to later open the "Michael Palin Center for Stammering Children" in London. Insult to stutterers? Hardly.

I'm just throwing this in to mmagbee-1 chill dude!!! I hope you have some nice friends out there, otherwise the world may just be in trouble!
You are defending a classic comedy (yes, it is one of my favourite films - and I rate it one of the funniest I have seen) by writing comments that make you seem one very humourless, bitter and down-right nasty little person!? Not a good way to argue, my friend. And attacking people's names is childish in the extreme - when you leave school you may realise this.

You know why nowadays comedies are not funny anymore? Because any joke they try will offend some category of people. So they are left with no choices but to be bland and boring. Why don't spanish people start a campaign to ban "Fawlty Towers" because it has immigrant jokes in it? It's just comedy, take a chill pill guys!

                    A few things.
Yes, I think the movie is utterly hilarious and cannot understand anyone who doesn't, but "Chacun a son gout." I mean, I personally think Frasier, Friends and Seinfeld are grindingly unfunny TV shows.
Also, I thought it was actually Palin himself that had the stutter, maybe I heard it wrong?

"Mommy, mommy, can I feed the troll?"
"No dear, you know how they thrive on attention, and suck the life out of any well meaning bulliten board"
                      "Aww, but mommy, it's fun!"
"Oh, ok then, just one followup"
                      So, here's my followup 🙂
I think that you're on your own, this movie is one of the few that lives up to it's hype. I mean, how can you not laugh at such a perfect line as:
"Vulgarian? You're the vulgarian, you beep
delivered with such enthusiasm by Kline. That is comedy gold right there.
                      "Ok, mommy, I'm done now."
"Ok, dear, lets go back to the real world now, and remember, never be cruel to trolls, they're just sad because they don't have a daddy."

To tedious_toad-1 Wow, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but if this movie didn't even make you laugh oncetoo bad for you. I have watched both AFCW and Fierce Creatures many many times, and laugh heartily every time. It's a great matchup of characters, and the script is good.

I understand that everybody's got different tastes of humour, but to not laugh once, to not even manage a half-hearted smile throughout the entire movie, you'd need to be in a catatonic state or dead. I laughed so hard when I watched this on ITV the other night that it hurt (even though I've seen it many times before).
Kevin Kline deserved his oscar and all the other performances were great, not to mention the hilarious and riotous script, the perfect timing etc.
Maybe you prefer darker comedy and I understand that the special edition DVD has deleted/alternate scenes which makes the comedy darker.
I'm game. I like any sort of comedy but this is one of my favourites. The mixture of British and American humour was perfect and JLC was beautiful as ever.

I don't agree, I thought it was funny, although I wouldn't call it 'the funniest movie ever'.

You obviously dont appriciate good comedy, let me guess, you laugh at stupid humour like that displayed in such tripe as 'Scary Movie' or gross out comedy like 'American Pie' (dont get me wrong, i like American Pie, its funny in its own way)
                                But Wanda contains real comedy.
How could you not laugh at John Cleese's exasperation when Ken is trying to tell him what hotel they have gone to, but just cant get the words out.
Watching John try and remain calm, but fail miserably just echos Basil Fawlty:
                                Archie: "plenty of time"
                                Ken: "the Ca..the Ca..the C..the C"
Archie: "OH COME ON!!, sorry, no rush"
This IS a very funny movie.
                                "What? The Curtains?"

Actually I agree with you. And please no one tell me that I don't have a sense of humour because I've laughed through a lot of films, but this simply didn't work for me. In fact, now that I think about neither did any of the Python movies. I think the reason is because back in the day these jokes were fresh and original and really well done but nowadays they've been copied so many times they seem clichd and unoriginal compared to what's currently in the mainstream media. Or maybe it's just not my kind of humour. Either way, the movie wasn't my cup of tea.

Guys, as much as you are appalled by tedious toad-1's reaction, I am here to support his 2004 decision to drop us all a line. It's a scream in a vacuum, but nonethelessI didn't think this film was top-notch. I did smile a couple of times, especially toward the end, where the action picked up. The rest of the gags with people walking in on the naked Cleese, the stalking Otto these are all mainstays of theater and TV comedy that have been done and redone even before 1988. Kline overacted horribly. Generally I like him, but, man, he was a clown in this one (in a bad way). I was amazed to find out it won Oscors. I don't get the movie. Sorry, guys. Just not funny and stale.
