all the way up to her death was downright disturbing!
I hadn't watched this in years so this scene made my skin crawl!!! Her skin peeling off from the glue, her arms plopping on the ground, and just watching and feeling your body transform into a effin cockroach (slowly at that!) Was mucho disturbing. Kudos Harlin. Great and disturbing. She had it the worst out of all of them!

Can't disagree with that.
Honestly, I think "Dream Master" Freddy was the most evil one. Yeah, he's definitely a lot funnier here, but that's what makes him so much scarier, in my book. The humor is a reflection of HOW sadistic and cruel he is to the teens he haunts and slaughters this time round and Debbie's death is the best - and most vile - example.

I feel that was meant to be the point, as "The Fly" was a big part of pop culture at the time, given how it helped bring Cronenberg and Goldblum even further into mainstream popularity.
But in the making of documentary that aired on TV back in the 80s (I have the VHS), Brooke Theiss made a good point on what differentiates the two: as the transformation in "The Fly" progresses, Seth Brundle, to an extent, "accepts" his new existence as Brundlefly whereas, to the brutal end, Debbie doesn't want to accept her freakish changes and reacts with complete fear and revulsion, especially after the flypaper peels and rips off what's left of her human form in the dream world.
