I remember when the movie first came out I saw the mountain lion graphically rip up the cub before the little fellow made his battle stand. But in years later I saw that scene dramatically cut and there was little gore exacted upon the cub. This included the VHS version. Was there tampering done early on?

I've seen the movie several times, and don't recall the scene you're referring to.

When the cougar was killing the little bear. Back in 85 I saw the bear being ripped up at the movies! I never saw it again. I surmise it was cut because of the reaction it had.
