Exactly.
It sort of laid a bit of the groundwork for Leon's issues.
On top of that, it may be depicting something that actually does happen from time to time in hospitals.
Women use dildos and vibrators, which are merely plastic and rubber devices, so it's not that much of a stretch of the imagination to think women could take it one step further, and it may even be a more gratifying way to have solo sex.

The movie has been uploaded to YT, so you can watch it there in 7 parts I think. From what I got, in a much later scene, where the dad educates his kids about sexual anatomy using PIN to explain, he asks Leon to remove PIN's towel, which implies that PIN is anatomically correct. I think the nurse was just a pervert trying to get off because she knew that PIN was anatomically correctAnd I can only guess that includes everywhere, because the movie didn't actually show anything.

Leon of course, being a naive child, was very shocked, and it made him even more convinced Pin was real.
Furthermore, it adds a certain "red herring" to the story, as you spend quite a lot of the film wondering whether or not Leon is going suggest to Ursula that she use Pin in order to satisfy her "needs".
