Why should they mention him? He was only staying with them temporarily while his parents were in South America. He wouldn't have been around after fourteen years.

When they're about to have dinner, Carol asks for something in the kitchen. Oliver volunteers himself and says "Oh I'll get it." Oliver crashes into Alice bringing out the Christmas turkey. Oliver was able to catch it but then falls over and knocks over the Christmas tree but still saving the turkey. Everybody yells "Oliver!"
