Does anyone know what we're looking at as the end titles scroll? Is it sparks?

Growing up watching this as a kid, I always wondered the same thing. I always thought they were just a bunch of stars flying around everywhere, but whatever they are, I don't think they relate to anything in the movie itself, lol.

I always thought it was exploding apples, but it has been almost 20 years since I've seen it.
