Well, there are nice black areas and there are bad black areas. I didn't realize I had ventured so far into South Central. It sprawls into Gardena where I live now.
And believe me, before I was clean and sober, I spent many of my drug days at my homeboy's house in Watts. We used to walk through the alleys at night and never worried a bit. There are stereotypes all around.
What annoys me in 'white' middle class supermarkets now is that they let these hipster idiots bring their dogs into the stores. I don't want some dirty mutt's nose in my produce.

That's the thing about stereotypes isn't it? Most of them are based on assumptions and mass generalizations. Such as the one about whites walking through black neighborhoods alone, and the fear of being victimized.
I can honestly say - in all of the years that my husband and I have been together, he has never had any problems whatsoever walking through a black neighborhood alone (during the night or day). The thing is this - if you are cool with black people, they are cool with you. If they sense anything about you that makes them uneasy or seems off, you're going to have a problem.
How would you feel about a visually impaired person bringing their seeing eye dog into the store, or any other service dog?

Of course a seeing eye dog has a legitimate reason to be in a market.
I don't know if it's trendy where you live, but in LA everyone has to have a dog and they have to take it everywhere. It's a hipster thing. I love dogs. But I don't need my dog at the market with me. It's a sanitation issue. It may technically be against the law to bring an animal in a store. But it's so trendy here now that markets are afraid to tell these middle class bitches they have to leave their mutt in the car.

Haven't seen much of it up this way, and I've been to stores all around the area. Sounds like something they would do in Austin though. Electric scooters on the other hand⦠are every damn where!
But I agree, dogs shouldn't be allowed in grocery stores or anywhere else where food is sold. Those are probably the same people who let their pets lick them in the face and mouth. Yick.

I love seeing dogs in the store. If it's a little dog they're usually in the cart. Service dogs are on a leash
When I was working I looked forward to seeing people bring in their pets and compared to some of the customers, they smelled better and didn't steal -

I live in the center of a busy metropolis, so we don't have the luxury of silence around here. I'm a true city girl, and I go a bit stir crazy whenever I have to spend more than a day or two in the country. It's too damn quiet!
