Jennifer, I don't know what Marty did back in 55' but I'd have ended it then and there with the wannabe harlot on the spot!
I guess I'm salty about the photograph of the Doc next to the clock from the Clocktower and also about the fact that the Doc didn't remember that he'd get struck by lightning and make provisions already for when he was and stop Marty from going back to get him…but - it wouldn't be much of a movie then would it?

Those are indeed legit points. I might add that Marty and Jennifer shouldn't be able to meet their future selves in 2015.
Back in the old IMDB days, you could get crucified for mentioning these things on the BTTF boards!

I have no doubt that people were protective of their beloved movie back then, I had certainly come to terms with these light flaws by that point as I knew it was a comedic science-fiction film by then and not some sort of ethereal message of existence akin to Prometheus' hubris but it always has weighed on my mind to some degree.
Never getting to vent it I'm guessing is an old wound I'm finally getting to heal due to your bumping of these films Russell - and so thank you!
From memory on Jennifer meets her older self, I could be wrong though and perhaps Doc has done this countless times to find out some lab rat analysis of likelihood with a back-up get back to safety plan each time - there's no knowing how he thinks
