Opening Scene and Parade Scene

Is it just me, or did the opening scene of young Ron and friends playing soldier and Ron getting his ass kicked in that game, as well as the scene of the soldiers in the parade(physically and mentally scarred) both serve as warnings for things to come for Ron?
