The guy seemed nuts from the beginning of the movie right through to the end. It didn't matter if he was an idealistic kid, an idealistic veteran, a bitter veteran, or whatever, the guy was always radical.
If that ending is supposed to make you feel good because he's now against the war, it fails imo. The guy simply went from one extreme to the other.

He's not mentally unstable how can u blame Someone for acting the way he did after he lost half his body due to some beep war based off lies.I feel his pain I came back from Iraq twice I can relate to his acting out.Its just alot of anger and rage built up inside him and he has no Positive outlet for it so when he does release it,it's in a destructive manner.Plus the dude is what in his early 20s he still as you can see is very inexperienced when it comes to life.Hes just a young kid who doesn't know how to deal what happened to him.Of course he's angry and pissed off especially when people don't of can never understand what you went through because they weren't there.

First of all, this is not a SMS message, please use "you" instead of a single letter.
Secondly, why did you capitalize the word "someone"? It doesn't need to be capitalized, as it is not a name.
Third, he did not lose any big part of his body. Nothing.
He still had his whole body in his possession, he still owned his WHOLE body. No body parts changed ownership at all, whatsoever. None.
Just because he used the -usage- of certain limbs and organs, doesn't mean that he lost those limbs or organs. There's a big difference between losing your legs and not being able to use your legs. You still have your legs, you just can't use them. As opposed to people, who lost the legs, meaning that they don't even have them at all.
Please get your grammar and facts straight, and your typing style consistent and coherent, and leave the nonsensical bits out, before posting to IMDb again, OK?
And yes, he is mentally unstable. Horrible things happened to him to make him unstable, yes. But that doesn't mean that he is mentally stable. Would you consider a screaming, self-pitying, self-obsessed, selfish junkie-drunk to be the example of mental stability?
He wasn't all that stable even before the war, as some people have pointed out.
But maybe some other terms could have been more accurate. Having 'radical thoughts' does not require 'mental instability'. Especially in a world like this.
In the beginning, he was brainwashed by propaganda - later, he was shocked by the truth. Both can make someone mentally unstable. It doesn't mean the same thing as 'insane', however. -

You have to remember that not only did he undergo a vast change in his life with his paralysis, but everything he was brought up to believe in was suddenly shown to be a lie. That would be really soul crushing for most people, and would certainly take its toll on your mental stability. I would think many people, at least for a period of time, would be totally lost - not knowing who they are, what they believe in, and not knowing who to trust.

How was it shown to be a lie? I would say that he grew to believe it was a lie because what he believed was no longer theoreticalsuddenly he was affected and he did not like how it made him feel. In this movie, at least, he was shown to be a very selfish and abusive person who enjoyed making people feel as miserable as he did, using his experiences as a weapon, instead of being a helpful and useful member of society TEACHING about his experiences.
