This comes from a 1988 interview with EARTH GIRLS director Julian Temple in "American Film" magazine:
He used the no-talent postergirl Angelyne as a chesty stage prop in one scene. "She doesn't really

anything, but in Hollywood a lot of people are in her position," says Temple, who somehow concluded that Angelyne was "the patron saint of Los Angeles." -

I hear she's currently running for mayor of Hollywood - if she doesn't really do anything, that sounds like a good position for her.

Ha! It was one of the biggest jokes around LA and Hollywood at the time, she paid for a bunch of billboards around town and no one knows what she does or what her "talent' is. I also saw her drving around town in a pink corvette a bunch of times.

I think professional celebrity would kind of describe her. She had a record, video, made television appearances here and there, but never was noteworthy in a serious entertainment capacity. She evidently had male benefactors who would provide the financial means for her publicity (some guy named Hugo?) She's still around. I saw her about a week ago in Woodland Hills in her pink Corvette.

So Angelyne was like Tila Tequila pseudo-celebrity type who does nothing have no talent but have a lot of pictures all the place or the internet type of girl. Nowadays she would be some instagram model who has a lot of followers in which qualifies her to get attention and the name for being a celebrity.
