i guess you can make an arguement for either extreme
first when a score is as memorable as Glory that you find yourself here, or second, when a score is as ingrained into the film, like say Star Wars or The Godfather, that you don't even realize it. it is so at one with the action on screen that you forget about it by itself
if it wasn't for my horse, i wouldn't have spent that year in college

Great score here but while we're on the subject, best score ever is
      Body Heat
      Other notables:
King Kong (the Jessica Lange one)
      Out of Africa
You Only Live Twice (most of the Bond's have good scores)
      Chinatown
      All the Spaghetti Westerns
      The Mission
Jane Eyre (Susannah York and George c Scott)
      Taxi Driver
      Magnificent Seven
      The Third Man
      Charade

        Magnificent Seven

Of courseThe Great Race. Was thinking of it but wasn't sure of the title.
I also remember some beautiful music in
          Is Paris Burning?
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun
          Sodom and Gomorrah

Batman Begins & Batman: Dark Knight are also great scores.
My pick for #1 would prolly be Gladiator.
                #2- Star Wars Trilogy
                #3- Batman Begins
The are many that could be in the top 5 after these IMO.

                      I can't list just five:

                      1. Vertigo
                      2. Star Wars Trilogy
                      3. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
                      4. Indiana Jones Trilogy
Those four are pretty much locked in. My other favorites in no particular order are:
                        Gettysburg
                        The Mission
                        Blade Runner
                        The Great Escape
                        Glory
                        The Last of the Mohicans
                        The Magnificent Seven
                        Psycho
                        The Piano
                        Schindler's List
                        North by Northwest
                        Gone With the Wind
                        Rudy
                        Sense and Sensibility
                        My Neighbor Totoro
                        Fargo

                                these tied for 3rd spot:
                                Star Wars
                                The Lord Of The Rings

I'm frustrated a lot of people don't have Ennio Morricone in top 5. I even understand how someone might not like Vangelis electronic scores somehow

Glory is not bad, but no way it's top 25 or 50. For starters, it's signature piece - during the attempt to take at the fort - is just a ripoff of Orff's Carmina Burana.
