Why didn't King Triton just turn Eric into a merman? Or even better, why didn't Ariel ask Ursula initially to turn Eric into a merman?

Being human and living in the human world was a big part of what Ariel wanted. Even before meeting Eric, she was obsessed with the human world.

I thought that too way back when I saw this in theater in 1990
IF you know the story the mermaid is the central character and cortusy of her Father who apparently DOES understand his daughter thought hope opinions -

Because Eric was just a part of what she wanted, if he was ALL she wanted then yeah I'd agree with you, but the core of what Ariel wanted was to be humanshe wanted to be human long before she ever met Eric.
Some people like to say Ariel gave up her life in the sea for a man, but that's wrongshe gave up her life in the sea for herself. -

Alright guys, my bad. I clearly didn't think this question through. I get it now, no need to keep rubbing it in.

It isn't a bad question For those who think Ariel gave it all up for a guy why COULD HE NOT become a merman? They would be together
I thought that when I saw film in 1990
BUT as stated it was HER story in Anderson's and in the Disney film she wanted to be human BEFORE ERIC came into her life in Disney's and in Anderson's it was the only way she could possibly win his heart
Plus her father turning her human in Disney's means or meant he does kinda understand and respect her wishes
Take Beauty and Beast WHY DOES the beast have to be human Why not make her a she beast?
After all unlike mermaid and the origial fairy tale THAT WAS (supposed) to be a TWO SIDED story -

I meant when she first went to see her. I obviously didn't mean after Ursula died.
