Why isn't Disney doing a live action Little Mermaid remake?

I've got many things to respond to here BUT THIS one deserves it no matter what
The Disney Studio essentially has a Love/ HATE relationship with this film (emphisis on the word HATE) and does not seem to care much about it
Also a live action adaptaion would be very tricky and expensive to do BUT if there was more love then HATE with this film..what do you think would happen?
IF the former Sofia Copola film does what English Patient or Titanic does box office wise
what do you think would happen???????????? -

In all fairness, even if they didn't have a love/hate relationship with the film, with a bit more emphasis on hatred despite the fact that TLM seems to sell VERY well, it would have been extremely difficult to pull off since A. more than half of the characters are aquatic animals, and B., most of it takes place under the sea. They would need someone like Michael Bay to do it, since 1. He's no stranger to live action films with primarily CGI elements (he was responsible for the live action Transformers and TMNT movie franchises, after all), and 2. seeing how The Little Mermaid is, for all intents and purposes, an action thriller film in addition to romance, like Die Hard or James Bond, for example, this would be well within his territory.

Because it happens to be true Though well received in 1989 the film got all but ignored in the ninties by almost everyone involved in it's creationl
Yes a TV series was on in the 1992 BUT Disney made no acknowledgement of this.CBS and Burger King did) Others have mde projects involving generic mermaids in general BUT Disney does not care
If someone makes something that takes place in a snowy enviornment No appearances in Easter and Christmas parades after 1991 (except once because Hostess Joan Lunden's daughter was in the float dedicated to Little Mermaid
No theme park attraction till 1992 ve other films)
No ice show for almost ten years How long did it take to get to Broadway?
and that is a small amount hence The HATE.
The love comes from when the film DOES make money but at the same time they deny the films accomplishments which is QUITE often
Whereaa as other films regardless of box office etc GET more respect
in short Disney treats the film like Lady Tremaine treats Cinderella -

In all fairness, Toys R Us back in 2008 had a massive blowout of a The Little Mermaid sale that covered quite a bit of the store, and there's little indication that it was even related to the Disney Princess franchise, so I wouldn't say it got that much hate from Disney. That being said, however, yeah, it really doesn't get much love from Disney either.

In all fairness, they'd probably need to make it mostly CGI in an otherwise live action film, sort of like the Transformers films or the TMNT films being made right now, since more than half of the characters are aquatic creatures, and if they DO have to make the film, they'd probably need to have Michael Bay direct it, since he did do pretty well for those aforementioned films, and besides, The Little Mermaid was in part an action film (heck, its ending was practically lifted from Die Hard, probably one of the biggest action flicks).

I think it would be difficult to do a live action version of it. The lead character is a mermaid, it takes part mostly under water and the cast is mostly animals. I suppose you could do a "Babe" out of it and do voice actors imposed over CGI animals. But how would you do the sea?

Probably because all of the underwater scenes, That'd be very hard to film since the characters will be talking and stuff. They won't just be a few scenes with them underwater, but 5-30 minutes underwater scenes and stuff, so they'd probably have to CGI the whole thing, and it'd be REALLY expensive and stuff.
