After having a baby, this movie frustrates me

Newborns are just to fragile, finicky and need their mothers to be on movie sets. If you really want to donate yours I guess somebody would try, but its just not practical. Looking at the credits it looks like several children played Mikey, so they had to keep swapping them out as necessary,
How big was the bottle? I think my wife could get several ounces just a few days after our daughter was born. -

It looked to be an 8oz bottle that was a little more than half full. I couldn't even get more than 2 ozs. at a time until 2 weeks after birth. I was exclusively pumping though because my son wouldn't latch. Maybe that's why I wasn't getting as much. I do know that for about 3 days after birth, you are producing colustrum, which is the yellowish looking liquid. The milk doesn't come in until around day 4 and even then, it's only an ounce or two at the most. You don't really establish a good milk supply until at least 3-4 weeks after birth. From what I could tell, that scene was shot about 4 days after birth and she already has at least 4-5 ounces of breastmilk in a bottle? Very hard to believe.

LOL! Wraith, I hear you. I am expecting my first in less than four weeks, and after all the classes and research, I got LWT at the used vid store yesterday. I hadn't seen it in ten years, and I was rolling on the floor at some of the inaccuracies. It's funny how the way we see things can change based on what we learn.
I loved the nurse telling Mollie she was "almost fully dilated" at 5-6. PUH-LEASE!

They did use a fairly new baby onceduring the birth scene. The infant still had his umbilical "stump"~~~the navel hadn't completely healed, though the long end of the stump had fallen off. The baby was a few weeks oldstill considered a newborn, right? Cute baby. But, as soon as Molly takes Mikey home, he's smiling, focusing, etc. NOT a newborn. Just a thought..

Yeah, the rapid of aging is a little disoriented. That's likewhat a three-four year span for the length of the movie?
BTW-Congrats on having a new baby (though next time try for a daughter, okay?).
In this liberal pro-abortion society, I'll take all the babies I can get.

Sorry to break the news to you, but this is just a movie. Why does it have to be realistic? Bruce Willis is this child's mind's voice and you're complaining about how he interacts with people?! Jesus lady, you have a kid and suddenly think you know everything.

I know it's just a movie, but it's still hard to overlook the inaccuracies after you experience the same things. I never claimed to know everything, but I have had a baby and know how it works. Have you??? I'm guessing not.

All together I always wanted to know how they do baby scenes. I mean do they use real life babies on set or dolls. On some TV shows I can tell if its fake by how they are holding the babies like when Molly was trying to catch a taxi and she hall all that stuff in her hands that was obviously a doll. Yeah when Mikey was growing up and all those babies and toddlers looked real.

As a nerd who paid too much attention in her science classes, I have to have a laugh at how inaccurate the conception scene is. Then I remember it is just a movie and it's main purpose is to entertain. Not so much educate. A 3 month old baby is more entertaining then a newborn. A full bottle of milk standing conspicuously on the table later to be revealed as breast milkmore interesting than those tiny lil avent bottles. Not too mention the on set hand who filled the bottle up was more than likely male who didn't know anyway. Plus that scene probably took many takes. I'm sure they just filled the bottle up and left it there for John to grab and a squirt a bit in about 20 times in a row LOL. Fill it all the way up to save time.
I've had experience with babies I know it's not accurate. I also know movies though. This is still a cute movie to me. -

As a matter of fact, it is possible, and normal for a mother to be able to express several ounces of breastmilk at one sitting. Some mothers are unable to pump, but many can. With the uprising of the mother-to-mother milk-sharing networks, such as Eats on Feets, and Human Milk 4 Human Babies, pumping and storing milk is widespread.
I personally was able to express 6-7 ounces at one sitting. Several milk donors that I know of have hundreds and hundreds of ounces in their freezer. One of our donors had a baby three weeks ago, and already has 70 ounces stored up.
NOT impossible at all.

Yeah, alot of the baby stuff was unrealistic, but unfortunately it was kinda necessary or else the film wouldn't have worked as well.
As for the breast milk scene, do we know that it was actually breast milk, or was Mollie just trying to get a rise out of James?
After all, we never do see her breastfeed in the movie (although this doesn't necessarily mean anything).
They used four different baby boys, at different ages, to play little Mikey. My personal favourite was toddler Mikey. What a hoot. -

yeah gotta say, the milk you produce is based on you and differs for every woman. maybe you have itty bitty boobies but that doesnt go for all women.
in short, 4oz every 4 hrs is the average for babies over 4wks -

Lol. I grew up around all of my cousins kids and noticed this long ago. Now having my own baby, who is now almost 1 1/2, its pretty weird. But just a movie. Their movie kid is always in a good mood. Mine, he's cool, except when he's cutting a tooth, I think its called. And as far as the milk, I had to go back to the hospital after I had my baby, due to losing too much blood, and all my levels in my body were super low, and the nurse told me I could go ahead and pump, this was 3 days after I ha him, and I pumped 4oz from one breast and 3 1/2 from the other, almost 8oz. The 1st day i had him i was producing colostrum (not sure of the spelling) game him that, he latched on like a leach, but I think its different for people. Props to those of you who breastfeed. They had this nurse come run tests on me to see if my heart and everything was good and it was so embarrassing because my boob milk was leaking on his hands!
I think he liked it though! LOL! Kidding!
Also you're right about if he would've been sleeping and waking up every 3 hours for a feeding as a newborn it woulda been boring.
All though my kid at almost 3 to 7 mos. Would love The Mickey Mouse hot dog song, he would move his arms and legs really fast and get pissed when it was over, so replay over and over a good 15 minutes until he fell asleep or got distracted! shudders ugh! He also did that with the Bonanza opening! He's a toddler monster now, loves music and all still.
