He plays like Mays, and he runs like "Hayes". Who the hell is "Hayes"? The only significant baseball Hayes I can think of is Von Hayes and even though Von was a slightly above average ball player, I doubt that is who he was refering to. So who is it? Was there a world class sprinter named Hayes or something???

The Hayes he is referring to is Bullet Bob Hayes, He was an Olympic gold medal winner in the 100m and Super Bowl winning wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys, he was once know as the worlds fastest man when he held the world record in the 100m.

Yeah he was referring to "Bullet" Bob Hayes. "Bullet" Bob Hayes was also popularly known for playing an entire game with his hands in his pants because it was so cold. That game was the famous 'Ice Bowl' between the Cowboys and Packers.

Bob Hayes did spend a lot of that game with his hands in his pants, but that was between plays. Hayes managed to catch three passes that day. Many NFL receivers now wear gloves. I don't think they did back then. Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi only allowed his linemen to wear gloves that day. I don't know if Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry allowed any of his players to wear gloves. I assume Landry would have benched Hayes if he tried to play with his hands in his pants.
