Um duh, it's a movie. You can't spend time watching EVERY. SINGLE. BATTER. wait out to a full count. You have to move the plot along. Remember, what is actually a 3-hour baseball game must be condensed down to just over 20 minutes
(even though they do montage through most of it). The only exception to my knowledge was For Love of the Game, mainly because the film centered on just ONE GAME.
How do you like that piece of satire?

You know I never noticed that until you mentioned it. Nice catch. Yeah, I imagine it was to save time during takes, but I never would have noticed that.

Here's the thing. In most of these baseball movies, they hit the ball the first time up. There is never a whole thing where the batter hits 10 foul balls in a row or something because it would take too long for the film.

            Well, yeah, it's time constraints.
A lot of ball games take longer than a full-length movie does.

It would take too long to watch.

I am glad they all swung at first pitches. Baseball is way too slow for me.

Alcides Escobar always swings at the first pitch.

Because there is nothing sexy about getting behind in the count when your team needs you to hit one off the reservation.

It is like the movie "Any Given Sunday" when football games were shown with almost no special teams plays. And in Rocky movies both fighters throw punches non-stop for the entire fight.
