Um duh, it's a movie. You can't spend time watching EVERY. SINGLE. BATTER. wait out to a full count. You have to move the plot along. Remember, what is actually a 3-hour baseball game must be condensed down to just over 20 minutes
(even though they do montage through most of it). The only exception to my knowledge was For Love of the Game, mainly because the film centered on just ONE GAME.
How do you like that piece of satire? -

Here's the thing. In most of these baseball movies, they hit the ball the first time up. There is never a whole thing where the batter hits 10 foul balls in a row or something because it would take too long for the film.
