People hated this movie probably because they saw the British Mini-Series. the mini-series was a drama with some amazing performances from actors and actresses that we wouldn't have expected them from.
Aside from that. This film was poor. It copped out on the come-uppance of the Mary Fisher character (meets a grizzly end in the mini-series). And Bob gets back with She-Devil Pah! Cop out!
Meryl Streep was excellent as the OTT author who lives in her books but the character was written one dimensionally. This was a woman who was happy to take somebody elses husband and children away from their mother but where was the malice in Streep. It was no where to be seen.
I won't get too carried away because the screenplay was obviously written as a comedy but I feel ripped off because so much of each character's character has been torn away as a result. -

I loved all the scenes too..But I absolutely loved the scene where Mary was outside writing her book, and she couldnt concentrate, and then there was gum stuck to her hand and shes like ''Nicolette(in a real soft voice)'' then she paces down to Nicolette hurriedly and cant turn the CD Player off, and she just uses both hands and keeps banging the CD Player, then practically dives over Nicoletter to get the Phonehilariousand also when Mrs. trumper rings in the middle of Mary's interview, and says Mrs. Fisher needs T.L.C. and Mary doesnt know what it is, and asks ''Is that some sort of drug?''
But, really all of its good, I think Meryl's facial expressions were to die for! -

Meryl stole the show from Roseanne for sure! She's got good range. My favorite is her dialogue with the nursing home director when she's told her mother was kicked out and needed TLC. "TLC? What's that some kind of new drug?"

I love Mary's mother too! "She was a teenage tramp, she would do it anywhere, with anyone at anytime!" OMG! My mother would have been buried in the backyard along with 'Ma Cherie'.
But the best part is when Mary lays down the law, "I'm taking my life back, Bob!!" Meryl Streep, priceless!
