yeah, testosterone's a bitch. why, just the other day i started producing excessive amounts and couldn't stop myself from cracking penis puns and talking about homosexuality for a good 26 hours until i passed out from sheer manliness. only talking about it though, 'cos us tough guys are totally not gay, 'cos the gay jokes are offset by manly things like shirtless wrestling. while i was cracking all of those puns, i was also bench pressing a few cars for good measure. yep, us tough guy types are somethin' else - some days i'm so much like tango and/or cash i can't stop myself from ripping my shirt open and slapping a few asses in the locker room, even if i have no other reason to be there. i bet you all want to be like ppollesen and i, but you can't, 'cos you're not a testosterone factory like we are.

The amount of crap in classic Western movies that verge on flaming gay is hilarious. There was a short film showcasing the most obvious scenes that was pretty funny, I wish I could find that again.
The original poster could very well be on to something. Tango does act quite gay in the movie and Cash is incredibly effeminate.
Just need to open your eyes to see it, not to imply there is any homosexuality in the film.

I'm surprised nobody has yet to mention the sequence with Robert Z'Dar savagely whipping Stallone on the roof with the chains while repeatedly refering to Sly as "puppy." I thought that whole sequence was ripe to bursting with seriously heavy gay S&M overtones. Or how about the way Stallone makes a whipped and subservient little "puppy" out of his freaky cellmate Clint Howard?

To modern viewers, there's gay overtones in 95% of action movies from the 80's.
No exceptions actually come to mind, 'cept maybe the Indy movies.

I love "Tango & Cash" but the gay overtones are undeniable.
The character of Ray Tango(Stallone) seems to be intended to be gay whereas Cash(Russell)is just shown in gay situations. It reminds me of "Road House", another great, somewhat cheesy action flick from back then which I hadn't realized DID have some strong homosexual undertones until listening to the friggin HILARIOUS commentary by Kevin Smith & Scott Mosier on the Deluxe Edition DVD of it. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. On an interesting side-note, "Road House" star Patrick Swayze was actually set to star AS Cash before dropping out to star in "Road House" and was then replaced by Russell.
"Be nice until it's time to NOT be nice."

I can't back this up with any evidence but I remember watching Entertainment Tonight covering the making of this film and stating that one of the characters was gay. My guess is that this was edited out before the release and the stuff we're all seeing is what's left over.

Just saw this again for the first time since it first came out and its pretty clear that Tango is written as a gay character. He has no romantic interest and fits alot of gay stereotypes.
