I was watching Season 1 on DVD & I noticed Uncle Phil and Hilarys color was much darker than the other seasons. After season 2 they became Wills color. Was that due to make up or is that that their original color?

I'm pretty sure that James Avery always had that Caramel color to him. Karyn Parsons dis look like she went dropped about 2 shades, however.

Maybe the producers wanted them to tan to look darker, Hillary did look a bit more lighter in the later seasons. I'm guessing around the 5th to 6th seasons the producers didn't really care.

I always thought it was more to do with bigger budgets so more improved lighting and camera saturation.

Okay so fun fact about the change in actresses playing Aunt Viv.
The darker actress was fired for being difficult. That's why the other actress was hired to replace the darker one.

Yes the actress had prior dance training. The episode was to demonstrate that. I dunno whose idea it was to put in into the character Aunt Viv!
