Who do you think was the better Mr. Conductor. I like Ringo Starr better but I also like George Carlin. I'm a fan of both of them.

Y'know of all people, you'd think George Carlin wouldn't be even on a show like this. Carlin is probably the greatest standup comic of all time, and he's a talented actor as well. I think he was better than Ringo, but I take nothing away from the former Beatle He was excellent as well.

I think Ringo's accent sounded more like a train conductor. But I loved both of them.

I liked Ringo Starr better in this role. From then on, a conductor without a British accent just didn't sound right. Although I am a fan of George Carlin's stand up comedy, I couldn't reconcile the idea of him playing the conductor. Why on earth would a guy who joked about words you can't say on TV want to appear on a squeaky clean kids' show? Shining Time Station seems more like a show that he'd make fun of than one that he wanted to star in.

Carlin had young kids at the time. He probably did it so there was something they could watch with him on it.

I agree. I both like that Carlin spoke more gently and that he interacted more with the adults than what Starr did.

I always preferred Ringo Starr because it gave the show more of a 'British feel.'
