I love this version and have watched it many times since I was a little girl. I never noticed this until just now. In the first episode, when Barnabas is talking to Elizabeth, Julia walks into the room. You can clearly see the windows behind her have bright light coming through them. Obviously, this would be a problem for Barnabas with his sun sensitivity issues. What gives?

Chalk it up to a mistake. There were many of them. I don't know if this was intentional in honor of the original series which often had mistakes because it was a daytime series and they did not have the money or time to constantly reshoot scenes or if it just went unnoticed. During the scene where Barnabas is holding the costume party, it shows him walking outside when it is supposed to be nighttime and you can see sunlight coming through the trees.

Watching the revival series start to finish this week I seriously believe they may have only been able to film at Graystone Park during the day. Almost all of the night scenes with Barnabas in the woods is clearly during the daybc you can see daylight coming through the trees. Lol

it's because for whatever reason they removed the night time filters from the DVD set. When re runs first aired on Sci fi channel in the mid 90s the night time scenes looked like they should.

Journeyman, you're fking idiot. I can't believe anyone would think a deliberate mistake would be viewed as a tribute by anyone. Instead of speculating stupidity you could have looked up the real answer, thanks for being stupid and insulting to the people who made this.

It is very possible that it is a referance to the Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897) in which Count Dracula could walk on the sunlight without any effects. The idea of vampires being destroyed by sunlight came some years later (1922 Nosferatu) It is not part of vampire folklore at all, and Bram Stoker's novel Dracula actually features at least one scene where the Count is seen in daylight hours. Original vampire lore said that vampires only became powerful after sundown; during the day, they would appear as normal people, when at night they would gain the supernatural abilities that were attributed to them. They were required to return to their graves or coffins filled with earth from their burial place, but this did not mean that they couldn't move about during the daylight hours if they had a reason for doing so

I'm so used to the idea of vampires being unable to step out in sunlight but, I actually like the idea of them being able to better. I think the fact that they could would make it a lot scarier because you never know who might actually be a vampire. If you only saw certain people at night you would go, "Hmmsomething is up with that person."

Originally they were going to change it to night with some such an effect but they never actually had enough time to do it and it was left that way. I only recently just finished watching it for the first time and I simply ignored it. Things like that won't affect the way I view thisunless Barnabus started sparkling, then I'd hate the show no matter what would happen.
