So I'm watching this series and really liking it, and then they introduce Victoria going back in time and it's so not that hood anymore, I preferred it when it was all set in 1991. At first it was half 1991 and half 1799 but now it all seems like 1790, such a disappointment. 😞

For me it was halfway through the 4th episode that it started getting stupid.Victoria Winters is shown to be naive yet keen of intelligence. Until she meets the notorious ghost of Barnabas's sister. They show her taking it all in stride and acting flip about both Sarah's the ghost's) warning, and the little boy's warning about Barnabas being evil.Instead of reading the diary (as she was instructed to do and besides which they showed her previously as being intensely curious about Sarah) she just hands it over to Barnabas as a gift the next morning.What. The. Hell. Bad writing. I don't blame Joanna Going's performance, but she just comes off insanely stupid all of a sudden. Totally inconsistent characterization. And in an ongoing soaper like this, without believable character consistency and development, all is lost. The show never recovered after this first major blunder. To drop the ball on such an integral relationship in the movie for plot expediency shows that the writers don't care so why should I?At least it STARTED OFF good. A show like 'True Blood' was the opposite problem:it started off horrid with brief patches of being decent.
