Getting instantly eviscerated in an explosion is far too light of a punishment considering he sent 100-something innocent civilians to their death and was going to do the same thing to John McClane's wife, all while escaping and having a nice vacation.

In a way where he knew his mission had failed and that John McClane had beaten him. The way it happens in the movie, he thinks he is getting away before being instantly killed. It's like he died a happy man, which he didn't deserve. It was far too quick.

Isn't that exactly how killed all of those innocent people on that plane that he crashed ?
It makes sense (to me at least) that in the end, he got a taste of his own medicine.
