I especially love the part where her character goes "Somebody pick up" casually and then screams "PICK UP!" while she was on the phone, I've thought the way she yells "PICK UP!" was hilarious.

She made such good choices in this role. I love when she hangs up on the person on the other end of the pay phone line in the airport.

I also loved the scene where Kate gets reunited with Kevin towards the end of the movie, I thought Catherine O'Hara added a lot to this film.

I'm rewatching this on TV this morning. This was always one of my favorite childhood movies. I agree, I love Catherine O'Hara. I also think she looked very attractive in this movie. And John Candy, God bless him. RIP forever o funny man.

She also gets annoyed in the van while he's telling the story of leaving his kid at the funeral home by mistake.
"Maybe we shouldn't talk about this."
"Well you were the one that brought it up so I was just trying to cheer you up"
"Yeah well I'm sorry I did."
              Never gets old, lol.

I think there is just so much going on in it that something like her performance could get lost in the shuffle.

I agree. She's great in this movie! I love the part when she steals the phone from that woman at the airport, and you can hear a man speaking french on the the other line. "Okay, what am I doing Hello? Hello? Hello? I'm sorry, she'll have to call you back. CLICK

She was quite brilliant in the role. She could play the stern mom, the frantic mom, and the loving mom.
So many stories, so little time.

                          I NEVER DID.
I thought was the best part of the film even seeing the movie as a child in the theater.
