When James goes on about what Mollie's brother does that drives him insane, he goes 'he drinks everything but a drop and puts it back, he takes bites out of everything and puts it back, he reads our magazines, our newspapers, hides them before we get a chance to read them'.
The first two don't sound too unusual, people do have a tendency to do those things but why would he hide their stuff before they could read them? -

Maybe he means that Stuart gets to everything before Mollie and James get a chance, he probably reads the magazines and puts them down somewhere and Mollie and James can't find them and then don't get a chance to read them.
