If a baby won't behave and continue to unreasonably cry, its justicable to kill it.

Thanks for mentioning that she was bipolar. I missed that on my first watch through, but picked up on it after you said it.
Not that it excuses things, but it does add to the issues.

Hardly anyone with bipolar is even remotely that mental or deranged. Do some research on mental illness, please.

I don't think you know much about the things you are talking about here. People running their mouths constantly about mental illnesses they have no education about is a lot of the reason people with mental illnesses get such inadequate care.
And sadomasochism? Sadism, yeah, probably, but when did she enjoy receiving pain of any sort?

In the Extras for the film the Director said Annie was abused as a child, so thats the whole story behind it its why she went crazy!

That doesn't explain much. Millions of people are abused as children, they don't grow up to be a baby killer & kidnap authors.

In the book, she kills them because she feels bad for them, I think.

Given what we read & SEE of Annie Wilkes in the novel and filmI find it darn near impossible to believe that Annie's murders had anything at all to do with sympathy.
She was an evil, narcissistic psychopath. It was ALL about her.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

                              I agree with this.
I figured something along the lines of narcissistic personality disorder, which is a type of what people call psychopathy.
Granted that this was fiction either way, so I'm not sure how much King or anyone else researched the psychology of it all.

Yup, and I think it's safe to say that the majority of us (child abuse survivors) are sick of this stereotype.
A lot of child abuse victims more often become doormats for other abusers to take advantage of; not the other way around.

Watching the film again, I realized that Annie was a serial killer of not just babies: She kills a nursing student (no doubt because she outstripped Annie, who felt she 'deserved' to be Top Student, what a twisted witch) and even doctors who were in a coma.
                                  THEN moves on to babies!
                                  Terrible.

The Annie character was based partly on Texas nurse Genene Jones, who in the early 1980's was convicted of multiple infanticides.

I wouldn't say that as Rhoda did not have the emotions or motives that a person like Anne would have. Rhoda lacked compassion and had more..cold emotionless mode. She was strictly killing people for gain or to protect herself. She was killed people for "practical" reasons not nessessarily out of hate or emotional reasons. I think Annie is driven by something more emotional.
