Very true. However, the one thing that kind of bothered me a bit and I am not sure why I thought of it while watching that scene..weren't they afraid of sharks, cause he was still bleeding from the wound..Just curious. I guess I still have memories of "Jaws" from that scene as they were all waiting in the water for the sub.

In the novel he survived (in the last line he's talking to Hawkins).

I know. Bill Paxton dies in most of his movies, and so does Lance Henriksen.

I could not get over the fact that his Navy Seals character and every member of his SEAL team gets killed in "The Rock". It was cool that he was playing a Navy Seal again. To me, it almost seemed "impossible" for a whole SEAL team to get trapped and then wiped out, but I understood the movie was a vehicle for Nick Cage and Sean Connery. I did like Michael Biehn's line about protecting and defending the country against all enemies, both foriegn and domestic. Great line!

I'm sure SEALs appreciate it, as well. Commander Anderson(Biehn in "The Rock") died the most honorable death in the entire movie. Saying the things about the oaths, and how he could not give that order. I love that line as well.
But while we're on "The Rock"'s subject. I do believe that it's unrealistic that ONE Marine didn't even get wounded. Sure, they're both elite Special Forces team, but in all reality, it doesn't matter the levity of the situation. The SEALs would have at least WOUNDED one Marine.
War does not decide who is right, war decides who is left.

War has changed. Whoever controls the battlefield, controls victory.
Remember that. (Snake from MGS 4).

Correction - 4 SEALS died on the water dropnot 5. On the Patilla airfield assault, again you're wrong - 4 SEALs were killed and 11 wounded
Marcus Luttrell didn't barely survive - he had one bullet wound in his leg aside from various bruises & cuts from the firefight. The Afghan tribe took care of him and treated his wounds. He walked out of the town with tribesmen to meet up with the SF team out looking for him.
