I just wanted to point out that even though this " Raven " is coming across as a total loser. The rest of us Europeans are not complete "Idiots" like him. I'm Irish and I'd just like to point out to " Raven " that you come across as really stupid , just admitt defeat and get on with your life.

I bought the first movie a couple months ago because I always loved watching it as a child. Then, a couple weeks ago I was visiting up in Portland and happened to come across the second movie at a reasonable price and bought it. I like it, but definitely not as much as the first one and it does bother me that the characters are played by different actors and some of the other things (such as voices, etc.) are different.

Holy crap; this thread deserves a reward of some sort. "World's Longest Internet Argument".
But pertaining to the topic, I actually preferred this Bastian to Oliver Barret, even though Barret looked more like Ende's description. And of course, Hathaway owns as Atreyu, and I wish he could have played in the second one. I hated the concept of the rockbiter' family. Nimbly didn't even exist, though I liked him. I wanted the Many-Coloured Death. =/ But you can't win them all. I liked that they gave Falkor his correct eye colour, though they could have made him more lion-ish and less doggish. This movie was alright from seeing it as a movie. But in terms of its relation to the book, it wasn't that great. -

So am I, but I"m glad - I'm just sorry I didn't get to hand him over. What a pip!
Yeah this movie is a purist's "worst" nightmare, and even based on its own merits as a sequal I found it a bit weak. But as you all already mentioned, it deserves at least 2 stars because of its being better than the 3rd -

- To stay on topic: I saw the first movie before reading the book and liked it then. But as soon as I had read the book, I saw that even Petersen's rendition is really only a mediocre film at best. No wonder Michael Ende had his name removed from it before it was released. I was 12 when I realized that. So my advice is READ THE BOOK!
The second and third film are just too bad to waste time on. - I found this thread long after raven's comments were deleted. I did not bother to re-read the whole thing on some outside website since it was clear what was said just reading the answers. How can anyone be so childish? I refer both to raven and the people who felt the need to pick up on his comments and let loose some pretty bad insults themselves. And as for nagging him about his spelling (which judging from surviving quotes is really underwordly, but not uncommon in the age of texting) - except for one person everybody who criticized him made at least one grievous spelling or grammar mistake (and yes, it is spelt grammar not grammer) themselves. So before you throw the first stone

Anywaysback to topic
Im a big lover of such films as Neverending Story, having seen all these types when I was a child.
Neverending Story 2 is my fave out of the trilogy.
It captures my imagination the most and intrigues me.
Nuff said as plenty has been said already
Thanks

So, what the original poster, and, those agreeing with him/her are saying is that I should leave my hair one style for the rest of my life? Or, that I should never tan in the sun? Or, that I shouldn't exercise and get some muscles. So what if the Childlike Empress has short, dark, curly hair. I mean, i'm sure that even though Fantasia is far different than Earth, its inhabitants still get hair-dos/cuts and makes some changes with themselves. Atreyu is a warrior, which means he probably spends alot of time in the sun, so, why not a tan? And, Bastian is like five years older, so, i'm sure he's grown a bit from the first film. You people make no sense. People change drastically in five years (or, was 2 suppose to be in the same timeline as 1?). Heck, even in months. Just months ago I had a mo-hawk and now I have thick, feathery hair. Anyways, though 2 was as good as the original, it still was enjoyable with some pros. Here's some:
The Villain: Xayide was great as the villainess. I mean, she just looked cold and mean.
The Ship of Secret Plots: While a brief encounter here, the characters were awesome. I thought that lady who sung when she spoke and played that harp (or whatever it's called) was pretty neat.
Xayide's fortress: I thought the whole thing with the dark hand was awesome. It looked very creepy.
Xayide's henchmen: Tri-Face was just freaky and Nimbly was pretty awesome as a villain turned good.
The Childlike Empress: While I like the facial innocence of the Empress from the first, I like the style of the Empress from the second as much/better.
"The Neverending Story": The theme song from sung in the end credits of part 2 was, IMO, better than that of the first. The first was more pop, while the one from part 2 was a bit more rock. The instruments were much clearer in the song as well, and, I liked the guys vocals better from part 2's version.
Anyway, that's just my two cents on The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter.
I mean it is bad. Ya know. Like bad as in bad. Like, I'm bad, Jamal, you know it. -Elvira, M.O.T.D.
