Phil Collins not in hospice care but recovering from knee surgery
Unfounded rumours that the retired musician is on his deathbed are going viral.
Rumours are making the rounds that Phil Collins, former drummer and frontman of British rock band Genesis, is on his deathbed in a hospital.
However, a representative for Collins has assured fans that the 74-year-old music legend is not in hospice care.
Collins is in the hospital recovering after knee surgery, said his spokesperson.
The rock legend announced his retirement from live shows in 2022, after previously revealing he can 'barely hold a drumstick' after a serious spinal injury in 2007. That injury to the vertebrae in his upper neck caused lasting nerve damage.
In February, after his final concert with Genesis at London’s O2 Arena, Collins revealed that he
hadn’t been well. “I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens,
but I’m not hungry for it anymore,” he told reporters. “The thing is, I’ve been sick — I mean very sick," Collins added.
