First, the part when Cady brutally attacks Lori. Number one, Cady does attack and brutally beat a woman in the original. But we don't actually see him do it. Okay, this movie was made in 1991, but I thought it was way over the top to have Cady bite and take a chunk out of her face. They really lost me there. Way over the top and very unnecessary. Without this part, Cady is still creepy and still scary. I thought Max Cady was scarier than Freddy Krueger in this version.
Then there was the part with Cady and Dani kissing. Way too creepy and again, unnecessary. And again, he's already creepy and already scary. I also really don't understand some things about the part when Sam asks his daughter if Cady touched her. Instead of getting mad at her when she said Cady was trying to "make a connection," with her, and getting pissed when she kept smiling, I never understood why he didn't tell her that Cady sadistically beat and raped two women. One of them being a girl almost her age. -

I agree with you. The only thing I can figure is that he didnt want to scare her. It was definitely a hole in the writing there. She was had some sort of issues anyway, so perhaps he thought this information would not be a thing she could or would push her over the edge. Who knows?
