Yes, I mean it's not like he had a chance really. I tend to think monsters are not born, but CREATED by society.
I also felt a little sorry for him in part 5 when his mother says, "Your birth was a curse on the whole of humanity!" I mean it's not like it was his fault he was conceived in such a horrible way. It was horrible about his mother being raped, and I think she hated him from the get-go. I mean Freddy and his mother were both victims to start with.

It's been a while since I saw part 5. Actually it's been a long time since I watched any of the sequels except Freddy Vs. Jason.

The kids made fun of him because he was a psychopath. It showed him killing animals in class. It's rather normal for children to make fun of a "freak" like that. And I can agree to some extent that sociopaths and psychopaths are made, but they're born different. Predisposed with no real conscience. A good upbringing with morals can help surpressed this, but people like that are always different. Lacking empathy and having no real issues with death.

If I'm not mistaken there was a story written about Freddy, like an alt. universe type thing, there he was brought up in a good house and was given love and he turned out just fine.
It may have been part of F.K.'s 7 Sweetest Dreams.
But it makes me wonder what Freddy would have turned out like if he were brought up in a normal home with love.

I always thought it would be better if Freddy was born to a loving family, grown up in a nice home, and his parents had been affluent enough to see he wanted for nothing then he'd still turned out to be the maniac that he was. He did it because he enjoyed doing it, not because he had an excuse.
I always though evil was scarier if there was no reason for it. -

No. And the minute you start to feel sorry for Freddy you've basically jumped the shark as a viewer. Yeah, he had rotten beginningsbut nahhe's not supposed to be viewed as a sympathetic figure at all. There's no goodness to Freddy to warrant sympathy, and I feel none for him at allnor do I want to.

He was a child molester, too. People can spin it all they want, but there were plenty of allusions throughout the entire franchise that he molested the children, too; if it hadn't been for the McMartin controversy, Freddy would have been a pedophile as well as a child killer. A newspaper clipping from "The Dream Child" even says he molested them, as well as killed them.

No, they're talking about child murderer only Freddy Krueger.
I was more talking about when he was a kid he was abused by his stepfather and all that made him bad. I don't sympathize with him when he decided to molest and kill children but at the same time the reason he turned out that way is cause of being abused as a kid.
Green Goblin is great! -

Do I feel sorry for Freddy being dealt a crappy hand has a child? Yes. BUT, that doesn't forgive everything he did after.
Remember, a lot of the kids he killed in their dreams had pretty horrible childhoods too. Taryn was a poor drug addict at a very early age. Alice lost her mother at an early age and was then verbally abused by her drunken father repeatedly. Tracy was sexual abused by her own father. Carlos suffered permanent hearing loss due to cruel and unusual punishment.
A great deal of Freddy's victims were also dealt pretty bad hands as children. But NONE of them resorted to molesting and killing children. Heck, if Freddy was truly a sympathetic character, he wouldn't used the childhood trauma of his victims to make their deaths that much worse. Freddy is to be pitied but NOT excused.
Getting bullied doesn't mean it's okay to become a mass murderer. That's like saying all those high school shootings were totally justified because "The poor kid got made fun of, guys!! He should totally be forgiven for gunning down random students who didn't even have anything to do with his bullying!!" Getting abused by a stepfather sucks but that doesn't excuse a grown man from abusing the children of others. "Oh no, officer!! It's fine that he molested and abused my child. I mean, HIS dad was so cruel to him 20 years ago so I understand"
