Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Freddy's Dead

Spencer's whole character in Freddy's Dead is a sin in of itself and he should never have had to deal with Freddy at all and been immune to Freddy's effects with his marijuana use. when you smoke marijuana the THC reduces REM and prohibits you from having dreams or remembering them, when you quit smoking marijuana you have vivid nightmares all the time that last for weeks up to months, this is called dream debt. do to the fact of smoking pot the mind stockpiles all those dreams up and release them during the time body detoxifies, Spencer was actively smoking throughout the whole movie. talk about Wes Craven not doing his homework on this one, have a pothead in the movie but have the facts of marijuana all wrong and stylized, this is what happen when people listen to government propaganda and don't do research for themselves. Wes Craven would have been better off making Spencer character a rehab case as the he would be plagued by nightmares and Freddy would have full rain then.

Pretty sure Wes had nothing to do with this, Rachel Talalay is who you are looking for, though i wouldn't be surprised to discover her ancestors were behind "Reefer Madness"

Are you an idiot? Craven was only part of the first film and New Nightmare. He had NOTHING to do with the others. If you paid attention to this page, you'd see that.

IMDB does list wes craven a writer for the movie, anyway my bad if he didn't have anything to do with this one, who ever is responsible for Spencer's character still didn't know what they where doing regardless.

imdb says "Wes Craven (characters)" i.e. he created Freddy Krueger. go to any Sherlock Holmes film and it will list Arthur Conan Doyle as a writer, since he's been dead for nearly 90 years it's unlikely he had much to do with writing the specific films.

He also wrote the third film, Dream Warriors, which links up with the first.

To be fair Freddy making fun of the 1960's Batman Series "Pow" "Blam" "Splat" is better than anything Craven could do

You do know that there are many different strains with varying amounts of THC, right? And that everybody has different body chemistries too?
                          While smoking pot
                          can
reduce nightmares in some, it depends on many different factors, so you can't say this is a set in stone, solid fact.
