Most underrated movie ever?

When I found that out I lost all respect for Spielberg. He seems to have gotten so caught up in commercial success that he can't appreciate merit in any other form. He said it was a mistake not to let Robin Williams be funny, and I don't understand what he's talking about at all. Williams is very funny, but it's balanced with real emotional weight and dramatic heft which give the movie a genuine heart. It would have been a mistake to turn Hook into some kind of zany comedy, it would have ruined the story (and totally disrespected the source material). In fact I think the only real weak point was in Spielberg's vision of the Lost Boys as a collective (hair, dancing, skateboards etc) which looks SO nineties and dated where the rest of the film really holds up.
Hook is such a beautiful, wonderful movie. It just kills me that it's creator can't see anything but the box office gross. -

Movie is garbage, nothing works, script is terrible, anyone who loves this movie clearly has no experience with cinema. If you had any knowledge of what makes a movie good and well executed, if you had any critical thinking skills, you would see this movie as the miserable piece of beep that it is. If I was Spielberg I would apologize for this trash until the day I die.

The Pan thinks you should take that negative attitude elsewhere. Criticizing people over movie taste is more lowly than being a pirate. As much as some people might try to prove it, there are no rules in making a good or bad movie and there is no such thing as "objective critiquing".

I reckon. This film is amazing for kids. It's so much fun. If you're watching this film for any other reason than losing yourself in a fun and crazy fantasy film then you really shouldn't be watching it. Sometimes taking off your critic hat and just having fun with a film makes for a much more satisfying experience. First rule of thumb, if you watch a kids fantasy film, don't watch it with an adult eye and don't analyse it so much.
Hold onto that inner child happy thought and fly. Be the Pan. Bangarang! -

It's only here you see people bash most movies, unless you're talking with a bunch of film students, then there're those. Trust me, I'm one of 'em, and the amount of hatred for anything they deem "non-quality filmmaking" is massive.
You wanna be a good filmmaker, you've gotta know you've gotta break rules. Hook broke a lot of 'em, and look how it fared: still a classic."Rescue the damsel in distress; kill the bad guy; save the world."
