I love this movie and I agree it's also incredibly dark and graphic.

was made at a time he was at his peak. Everything he tried to do in this time period was big and grand. The movie takes itself too seriously instead of being epic is more melodramatic and hammy.
However, I think that appeals to some people and if the Internet is any indicator this movie has a bit of a cult following.

I have always enjoyed this film very much, largely because of Alan Rickman's performance, the incredible score and great action scenes. After re-watching it for the first time in 13 years, I still feel the same way, though today I think the cinematography is murky and I find Costner's performance along with the romantic element dull. Other than that, it is still a very entertaining film that brings back great memories for me.

NO IT WASN'T.
To me, this movie IS Robin Hood in a nutshell! No-one knows what REALLY happens, and I actually think every other movie and TV adaptation makes Robin Hood look GAY, which he's not. At least he didn't wear green tights in this! -

I don't think it was bad. I have always loved this movie. I know people give it a bad rap because of the American accents, but there were American's in the movie. I have several British friends and I would rather hear an American accent than a bad fake British one!
I think that a lot of the movie was tongue in cheek and I like the fact that there was a lot of humor in it. When I see a movie, I go to enjoy myself, not to tear it apart looking for errors. I know my history, I know what is fact and what is fiction and when I am seeing a movie, I don't need to inflate myself by pointing out errors. More people need to learn to just go along for the ride!
I think my favorite lines were when the 2 guys asked Robin how many men and he replied 5. Azim looked at him and Robin said that they couldn't count anyway!
Chandler: He had sex with Mr. Garibaldi!
Monica: Who's Mr. Garibaldi?
Chandler: Does it matter?! -

I never thought this movie was bad. But everyone opinions on movies differ. Some may like one, some may not. Its one of the few kevin costner movies i don't hate. I think hes pretty terrible in most movies however.
I saw this when it first came out so maybe that helps. I'm sure if you never seen it before and saw it now you wouldn't like it much since it seems dated and not as flashy as movies now.
