Oh my god I hadn't heard this before, the idea that Tom Cruise could have played in this movie I just threw up in my mouth a little
This is one of my favorite movies (and books), the way it was played. With Tom Cruise in the role, it would have been absolutely forgettable & unbelievable
That would have been such a waste -

Tom was unable to do this movie because he is extremely well-endowed and he would not have been able to fit his ginormous manhood into those tight jeans. Also, he was way too sexi for the role. Fact!

Tom Cruise isn't versatile enough to play such a dynamic character. Plus, he's too short to take seriously.
Jennifer Jason Leigh did well but I think Theresa Russell or Holly Hunter would have been a better fit. Jason Patric was outstanding. I don't think anyone else could have done any better.

Tom Cruise was worried too much about his brand back then to play a gritty part like this.
Jennifer Jason Leigh did well but I think Theresa Russell or Holly Hunter would have been a better fit.
Jennifer brings a certain naivety that Holly and Theresa do not have to be honest. Remember the character starts out as a rookie and then becomes corrupted. Jennifer can do both whereas the other actresses I haven't seen do that in any of their resume.
Jason Patric was outstanding. I don't think anyone else could have done any better.

Brought him 3 (soon 4) hot wives, s-tone of money, long career despite the fact it should have ended back in the 90's and cyborg-like never-aging good looks.
Not bad of a package to get in exchange for one soul.
but i havent seen it and i'm not interested in seeing it. sorry.
