The complaints were from a whinging minority and were unfounded in the context of the entire film.
There was no representation of Buffalo Bill being a homosexual man, only that he was transexual and his pathology was a thousand times worse as Lecter expressed. He may have been gay, but this wasn't mentioned in the film, (haven't read the book), and since Trans is not an outright sexuality and has nothing to do with homosexual men who revel in their maleness and the male form of others, homophobia is far removed from these distorted claims.
As for transphobia, serial killers come in all forms and that is just the representation here in a fictional story. And since Trans is a mental illness, this story just took it to the extreme side of the disorder spectrum.

The film bent over backwards to say that Buffalo Bill wasn’t transgender but, of course, that didn’t stop the LGBTQ cult from screeching about it, so much so that Jonathan Demme made Philadelphia as an ‘apology’.
Was he forgiven? Nope. They doubled down and criticised Philadelphia for not showing enough gay sex.
That’s why you must never submit to these Leftist ‘queer’ activists. Never obey, never apologise.
And now we have a correlation between transsexuals and violence, so our instinctive caution around these weirdos seems justified, and all of their complaints about negative portrayals sound like predators pissed off that they’ve been unmasked. -

There is no correlation between transgender people and violence, other than them being victims of sexual assault. If you ever actually ventured outside your basement and met one, you’d find them to be the most meek, effeminate people in existence. Please elaborate the last time any member of the LGBTQ community was a significant contributor of national violence?
