Hi, everybody. So I watched this film for like the first time in over 5 years this past week. The version I watched was the R-rated version, it was my first time seeing this version and I knew that there were several alternate adjustments made here and was not at all surprised to see them.
However, there is one season from the R-rated version that just felt extremely out of sync with the tone of the movie. The scene that I am referring to is the party scene that takes place fairly early on in the film. The scene takes place after the LT smokes crack during his meeting with the dealer in the stairwell. Pretty much, the party scene consists of LT entering the apartment of one of his lady friends who is joined by one of her friends. LT brings a bottle of champagne and introduces himself. He opens up that bottle of champagne before they snort some coke and begin dancing around to some really catchy 50s doo wop song. Now, this scene is an alternate for the scene where LT is standing there naked while having his drug induced breakdown. The alternate scene is a pretty good scene, yet it feels so out of sync with the rest of the film - like, LT actually comes off as being a pretty nice guy and the scene really has an upbeat feel to it. The scene that follows in LT going to the convenience store where the beat cop is trying to mediate the dispute with the store's owner and the two guys who stole the 500 bucks - the scene has LT back to his normal abrasive self. Strange to see, seeing as how in the previous scene he came off as a really cool dude. Thoughts?
