No idea why Ferrara thought that the nun should have a body like someone from Baywatch. Obviously, this guy has never shied away from stuffing his films with often gratuitous nudity, but this here really seems puzzlingly out of place.

The scene of the nun being examined by a doctor just seemed gratuitousshowing her entirely naked, with a perfect body, etc. For one thing, normally a doctor would keep a rape victim as covered as possible so she doesn't feel like she's being violated a second time. And nuns usually don't look like models.
The only possible legit reason I can think of is that maybe the director was trying to make us, the audience, into leering voyeurs like Keitel's character, but that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the movie. Or maybe the lieutenant saw her as "perfect" and blameless and that was reflected in his image of this nunthat might fit, but I don't know. Probably just fan service
