..for my fascination and long time love for Charlie Chaplin and his movies, but this bio-pic is probably the greatest ever made in my view. Attenboroughs take on it is near-perfect, and even in it's metafase it's funny and smart. The narrative is captivating and so is the pace of the film. I don't have to mention the actingbut Robert Downey Jr. was robbed of an Oscar here (as was Val Kilmer the year before and after), and he carried this historic piece of art to a level of grandieur. Now I'm not the sentimental type, but this movie makes me weep - the score and the ending, it touched me like no other movie. Now is the time to release an extended cut, as Robert Downey Jr. is Hollywood hot.
This is one of the VERY FEW movies I'd rate 10/10 and surely the essential Robert Downey Jr. The legacy of Charles Chaplin should be pensum for all film-students
