He loved Dil so much, that by the pictures hung on walls at her apartment they seemed to have a perfect love life. And why is he then fooling around with Jude? And he was beep serious, he was trying to have sex with her, kiss her as soon as possible. Would somebody explain this?
He loved Dil, so he must be into guys, and then he's seen making out with Jude? What the beep? What are these people?

That is the best part of the movie. Jody isn't what he seems. He keeps talking about peoples nature but our perception of his is false m when you compare his attitude in the first part of thd film to what you know about him in the end.

As much as he loves Dil, he can't go against his nature. Jody is heterosexual.

          It is sad but realistic
He is a heterosexual man in love with a transgender man and he has a moment of weakness when apart from his lover and confronted with an attractive woman (as a bixsexual woman I consider Miranda gorgeous and sexy)
What I find really troubling is what this might foreshadow for Dil and Fergus's relationship

Well, he was lonely in a foreign country where people weren't particularly nice to him, and she came up to him and was nice. The script goes as follows:
JODY: "Okay. That nice lady. Meets me in a bar. I'm saying what the beep am I doing here anyway. She buys me a drink. She holds my hand. I'm looking at her saying I don't like you, bitch. But what the beep. Maybe I'll get to understand."
I'm not sure if Jody and Dil really had a perfect love life. What's a perfect love life anyway? I do believe that he really loved her, but that the simple fact of needing a job, ending up in that job and being lonely overall was enough to get him to make a mistake.
Now that I think of it, did Jody really try to have sex? He kissed her on the fair and she told him "Not here". Then, away from everyone, she is the one who flings herself down and says "Come and get me soldier". So, she initiated it. To me, he made the impression of seeing the only person in that place who's good to him, and of being convinced to follow her instead of alienating her. It would match with him later having such a cold opinion of her - not that she did anything to change that, anyway.
And hey, just because he loved Dil doesn't mean he's into guys. Maybe he's bisexual or pansexual - I wouldn't see him as one who only goes into one direction.

he made a comment to Fergus early on regarding Miranda Richardson that he shouldn't have gone for her because she wasn't "his type"
once I saw the movie and realized he was gay; I knew what he meant by her not being his type.

And why are you telling ME that? Did you hit the right "reply" button or did you just choose the last post on this thread because you don't know how it works here?
I don't like having a mail telling me someone answered to my post when that person doesn't even answer my post.

WTF is wrong with people like you? This isn't anything important - it's a movie message board - who gives a rat's ass

Uhm I have a question. Are you guys sure he's heterosexual? Because I thought it was a bit homosexual that whole "take it out, hold it for me, now put it back in" scene when getting Fergus' help to pee.
I think he was a bisexual man don't you guys agree?

I clocked it when he kind of "flirted" with Fergus - "killer smile, the handsome one" - to get him to see him as a human. And, Fergus being a good man, it worked. He fed him more chocolate and removed the sack from his head.
I believe it when he says he wasn't into Jude. He hooked up her because she pursued him and he was a solider who wanted to party with somone available. It's a very common scenario.
